Just Like New

The humans have been very busy, and making a lot of noise. Worse yet, they have blocked us from the family room! Dogonally, I don't really care, cuz I like laying in the front living room under the ceiling fan where it is nice and cool. However, my favorite place to sleep is in the basement, which I can't get to. However, Abby and Samuel are having the biggest "issues."

You see, Abby's favorite spot is by the fireplace on her blankey, in front of the oscillating fan, and she couldn't get to it. Samuel, just can't handle not being close to mom, so he mostly whined at the barrier the humans put up to keep us out of the room (he's so pathetic).

Back in either April or May (I can't remember which), mom and dad pulled out all the carpet from the family room in hopes that it might help our itchy skin problem. It didn't, but at least the old, ugly carpet was gone. They bought some new hardwood looking laminate flooring, and apparently they have finally gotten around to putting it in. They started on Friday afternoon, and finished on Saturday evening! It's a really big room, so that's why it took them so long.

Now, the floor looks beautiful!! They put the area rugs back down for us, so we wouldn't slide around. They also put Abby's blankey back in her spot in front of the fan. Samuel was much happier once he could get back to following mom around too. (what a baby) And I was happy cuz now I can go back to the basement to sleep on my soft comfy mattress where it is extra cool!

I'd like to think they are done with this home improvement stuff, but I don't think so. Mom still has lots of wall paper and ugly borders to remove, not to mention painting pretty much every room, and putting new flooring in the kitchen and bathroom. I see much more noise and us being gated off from our "usual" spots coming up. Oh well, at least our house finally won't look like a retirement home when it's done!

Woo Holly!!! You should grab the camera and take a photo of the floor to show to us. The other day, mom said something about repainting the bathroom. The only problem, the people who lived in our house before us, painted over wallpaper in the shower section of the bathroom. So, mom said we have to pull that down. That should not be too bad for me, but she also mentioned something of having to get a new roof??? I fear that is going to be LOUD!!! Thank goodness our house is 2 levels, with an attic... so maybe if I stay on the 1st floor, I will be ok???

Home repairs are time consuming. Are home needs updating and we've had one of the upstairs rooms unpainted for months now.....

Great job putting in the floor so fast. That is a lot of work especially with other animals in the house. :)

Bet it will feel good for Holly and the other dogs when it is hot and/or humid. The floor should be nice and cool.

We have a laminate floor that looks like hardwood. I am afraid of it because it is shiny. I hope you new floor is not scary.

My parents put in laminate flooring in our living room back in January. Apparently it was really difficult for them, but it does look nice, so I can kind of imagine what yours looks like too. I bet it's fit for Queen Holly now!

Hey Hollys,

It sure is nice when the peeps finish their refixin' stuffs, isn't it. Mum is thinkin' of rippin' up some carpets and puttin' down more tiles. I bark NO! cuz I have no tractions but they sure are cooools durin' a hots light.

I hope the wallpapers isn't too old and greens, cuz the very olds green wallpapers sometimes had arsenic in it. But I don't think they used that type of paper in Omahas.

Oh, do I live in a retirements home? My peeps are retired. Am I retireds? Now I'm confused.

Wuufs!

Hi Holly! I saw your comment on Opy's blog. Yes, you must register first before you can bid. Click on the link at the top of the page "Info for Bidders" and it will tell you how to register. We require registration first because we need to be able to eliminate spammers. Can you image what would happen if non-legitimate dogs were to put in a bunch of fake bids?!! Thanks for wanting to participate and support Casper. Oh, by the way, more items will be added to the auction site, so I don't know if you want to wait to bid until everything is up on July 14th. There will be a lot more items!

If you register, you will be put on an email list so you can stay abreast of auction news. Hope this helps!

And, here is the URL to Casper's Auction:
