Mom had just gotten home from work, so I brought her my new present.
She was not happy.
Take a look at why......
Apparently this tiny baby squirrel fell out of his home that was in our tree. I didn't hurt him, I simply found him, and brought him in the house to show mom what a wonderful present I got!!
She was still not happy. She has "issues" with deceased wildlife. Animal lover that she is, this really bothered her. Then, to my horror, she picked it up in one of those plastic bags, and I never saw it again.
I went back outside, hoping to find another one. But, no such luck!

Holly,
I am SO sorry that your mom took away your little present! That was not very nice of her. For all she knows, you could have adopted that as your child...hummmppp! Good job finding that little treat! I have seen them, but never been near them :(
Hugs,
Sitka
Oh my what a great present. My mom told me if I got a present like that she would have taken it away from me too. They are so not fair these humans
Awww, poor baby squirrel. Although, since it was already dead, your mom should have let you eat it. Squirrel is very lean.
I mean if it was ALREADY dead, what is the problem!? The only thing that falls from the sky around here are grapefruits!
My mama never lets me chase squirrels. I guess now you know once something tasty is in your mouth you do not let it go for anything.

Sheesh! Humans are so unfair sometimes! My mom wouldn't even let me keep the chicken bones I took out of the garbage!
Holly,
Totally unfair! You bring your mum a present, and she duscards it.
Where's the appreciation for the token of your love for her? After all, you did bring the squirrel to her and not keep for yourself.
Yours in watching the squirrels in my yard,
Arwen
Yep, I know how you feel.
I've been pondering something though. The humans always come from the outside carrying plastic bags with goodies in it that they never give us. Then they take our goodies and put them in plastic bags. Do you think that maybe they're swapping dead things all the time with other humans?

Harrrr Holly
Dont you hate it when they throw away the cool things that you bring them. Harrr she could have kept it and played with it before it saw the plastic bag. Harrrr

I like your blog! I went through all the trouble of killing one of those and my mom took it away! Can you believe it?!?! So I totally know where you are coming from.
Nice find, Holly. Next time you get such a nice present, hide it in the yard & don't let the humans near it. A shallow grave works well. Then you can come back & admire the aroma as the days pass.
Humans are totally clueless when it comes to the finer points of being a predator.
You're the luckiest dog ever. I never find stuff like that. I definitely wouldn't take the next one in though, find a "special" place for it.

Poor little squirrel. To bad it didn't get big enough to chase!
