Not A Wordless Wednesday

We interrupt our usual Wordless Wednesday as sadness has struck again. My friend Kelsey, who just passed away in October, is now joined by his brother Smokey.

Smokey has been losing the loss of his back legs for quite a while now. His family tried all they could to help him (Rimadyl, Tramadol, Steroid shots) but his poor little body just couldn't do it any longer.

Smokey was a sweet German Shepherd mix who was very loved by his family. He was especially a "daddy's boy."

I think this picture says it all!

His family has suffered two losses so close together. But, they also just became fosters parents for Taysia Blue SHR to a sweet Aussie/GSD mix named Cocoa yesterday. So, we are hoping the life they just saved, will help them get through this loss of Smokey. Smokey lived a long, wonderful, and much loved 14 years. We know he is now playing with his brother Kelsey at the bridge.

Run fast and free Smokey. Your family will be with you again one day.

Blogville has suffered far too many losses this year. Let's hope that 2012 will be a better year.

We are so very sorry. We know how hard loss is - and how horrible it is when you group a couple together. :(
Please give Cody a hug for all of us when you see her. We know her heart is breaking. We pray that time will help her to heal.
Luv,
Dave and Zim
And mom, too

Everyone, thank you for your kind words. When this year started, I never thought it would end with us losing BOTH of our furbabies. Our family is mourning the losses and has been turned upside down. Our decision to foster came before we lost Smokey, so Cocoa (our foster girl) has been a blessing and is helping us through this hard hard time.

Hug each of your furbabies often (every second if possible) because you just never know when their time will come. It's devastating. But, Kelsey and Smokey are together now and are both whole and happy and running. I truly believe that. Someday, we will all meet again, and that is the day that will be truly glorious.

I love you both Kelsey and Smokey! Mommy
