Well, the day has finally arrived. Our sweet foster boy, Dave, has finally found his furever home!!! And, not only that, but another Taysia Blue pup, Blue, also got adopted with him! So, he now has a new family and a new sister to play with. We are so happy for them. We know they will be very happy!

Meet the adorable, sweet, loving, and very cuddly Dave! He is available for adoption through the rescue that mom volunteers for, Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue.

Dave just wants to be loved and cuddled. He absolutely loves ear scritches! He will dig his head into your chest and put his fuzzy tail in the air as you rub his ears and pet his head. He is such a darling and is looking for that special family who can give him the love and attention he sooo deserves.

He is the first double parti-eyed Sibe mom has ever seen. His right eye is mostly blue with a spot of brown at the very top. His left eye is mostly brown with a spot of blue on the inner corner. He loves to play with Khady, Lena and even me! Yes, I think it's because his name is Dave that I think he's an "OK" dude! After all, my true love's name is Dave!!!

He is such a sweetie pie! I sure hope he finds that loving furever home soon!

Not A Wordless Wednesday

We interrupt our usual Wordless Wednesday as sadness has struck again. My friend Kelsey, who just passed away in October, is now joined by his brother Smokey.

Smokey has been losing the loss of his back legs for quite a while now. His family tried all they could to help him (Rimadyl, Tramadol, Steroid shots) but his poor little body just couldn't do it any longer.

Smokey was a sweet German Shepherd mix who was very loved by his family. He was especially a "daddy's boy."

I think this picture says it all!

His family has suffered two losses so close together. But, they also just became fosters parents for Taysia Blue SHR to a sweet Aussie/GSD mix named Cocoa yesterday. So, we are hoping the life they just saved, will help them get through this loss of Smokey. Smokey lived a long, wonderful, and much loved 14 years. We know he is now playing with his brother Kelsey at the bridge.

Run fast and free Smokey. Your family will be with you again one day.

Meet DAVE!

No, unfortunately it isn't my true love Dave from the Ao4, but this one isn't too bad!

Mom drove over 500 miles, round trip, on Friday to pick up our new Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue foster dog. And, mom decided to name him Dave, after my handsome boyfriend Dave (see above). Just like Lena, he had to pass what mom calls the "Holly Test." Being the queen of my house means all interlopers must meet my approval. Lena was questionable at first, but we have come to an understanding (I'm in charge, she isn't) so all is well now.

So, anyway....Khady got to meet him first. Of course, she did great cuz she loves everypup. Then Lena got to meet him and they did great too. Then, it was MY turn. I don't think the humans have been this surprised in YEARS!!!

The fun then continues......

I KNOW!!!! Can you believe this???? I do believe this new Dave is going to fit in just fine while he is waiting for his furever home! I wonder if it has anything to do with his name being Dave.....?

We interrupt our normal Fun Foto Friday to bring you this official news. Much to my dismay, I might add.

Yes, I'm sure many of you saw it coming. But, it's official. Lena is officially a foster failure and it wasn't even mom who suggested we keep her. It certainly wasn't me, either. However.........

It was actually DAD'S idea to keep her!!! Talk about a traitor! I thought he was on my side and really wanted to find her another home. But noooooooooo!!! First time someone was interested in her dad flipped out and said we should keep her! To say mom was "shocked", isn't really the word I would use. Actually, she laughed!! Because, dad was the one in the beginning who couldn't wait for her to find another home!

Needless to say, she has found a home, and it's here with us. We are working on our "issues" with each other. She is learning that this is MY house and how our pack works. She has definitely come a long way in the last couple months. And, my baby likes playing with her, which is good, cuz then she doesn't try and chew on me.

So, congratulations Lena! Welcome to our home.

Just stay off my couch.

Another Sad Loss

To say this has been a bad year for losses of so many of our furry loved ones and friends, would be an understatement. Now, another sad loss. Our dear friend, and mom's very first foster dog, Kelsey has gone to the bridge quite unexpectedly.

Mom rescued Kelsey in February 2002 from near death at a shelter in St. Joseph Missouri. He was only about a year old at that time. She fostered him for 8 months until she found the perfect home for him.

Not only did Kelsey get a fabulous home, but our mom got a great new friend in Kelsey's new mom and their family.

Kelsey survived eating parts of a purse that got lodged in his stomach and intestines back in March 2007. He had to go through three surgeries in two days. The vet didn't give him very good chances of survival, but his mom never gave up on him and he pulled through!

He was a tough boy and was back to his playful self. Here he is doing the upside-down froggie doggie!

But, that wasn't the last of Kelsey's amazing survival stories. In August 2009 Kelsey was diagnosed with a nerve sheath tumor at the base of his spine, by his tail. Mom and Kelsey's mom drove him to Colorado State University's Veterinary Hospital where the amazing doctors there were able to completely remove his tumor. Unfortunately, his fluffy tail had to go, too. But that was ok, we just all referred to him as the little polar bear!

He was such a loving boy! Always happy to be with his family, especially when he was getting his tummy scritches!

However, a couple weeks ago he started to become very weak and had problems getting up and down and his mom thought he might just be having some arthritis problems. She tried Rimadyl but it didn't work, and he was getting worse. So, on Saturday she took him to the vet to see what was going on. The diagnosis was a fast moving, degenerative neuropathy. His spinal cord was no longer able to send the signals to his legs and so they were no longer able to work correctly, or carry his weight. Knowing things were only going to continue to get worse, his mom and dad made that ever so difficult decision to let him go.

Run fast and painless now my dear friend. You were such a trooper and tough boy to have lived through all the health obstacles that were thrown your way. Your mom and dad did so much for you and loved you so completely. There will definitely be a huge hole in their lives and hearts at your loss. May you wear your Silver Harness with great pride.

Tooth Fairy

Well, lets just say I had a little "accident" (not telling how) and broke off my bottom canine tooth. You can see it here. Notice the big gap to the right of my top canine tooth? Right below it is my broken tooth.

So, I went to "TheVet" on Wednesday and had it pulled. They sent it home with dad when he picked me up. When mom saw it, she couldn't believe how huge the root was. This was all BELOW my gum line!

She still can't figure out how all that fit into my lower jaw. My friend Summiiii's mummi asked if the tooth fairy was going to bring me something good. Mom said the tooth fairy was now broke. What's up with that?

Anyone else think my tooth looks like a fish?

This is my new friend Lena, our foster dog for Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue. Looks to me like she is sure "watching" rather intently!

Can any of you guess what she is watching for? I'll give you a big clue. It lives in trees, and is evil, and often the reason us pups get in trouble for things we didn't actually do!

Don't worry Lena, I've got your six! As soon as we see one of those evil critters try to enter our yard, or scamper across our fence, I'll be right there to help you get it!

Yep! I most certainly feel good! My new BUN level was 11 (normal 10-20) and my Creatinine went DOWN from 1.6 to 1.4 (max normal is 1.2)!!! I am now cleared for a month before my next test! Wooohooo!

Khady Test Update

Hey every buddy! Khady Lynn here! I'm feeling especially happy.....

My test results this morning showed my BUN went down to 9 and my Creatinine stayed the same at 1.6 and my protein went down to 7.4!!! Needless to say, mom and dad were so excited for me!

I go back to the vet next Monday for another check but, so far, I'm feeling great!! I'm still not very fond of the new food they are giving me (first tried the Science Diet k/d and now they switched to Royal Canin LP11). But, I must say, that my friend Zim's recipe for his Stinky Goodness Jerkey Treats is a huge hit! Apparently, mom hasn't figured out that I'm still holding out for my usual ham and cheese toppings. Unfortunately, she tried telling me there is NO giving in, but I'm a Sibe, so I still have to try to be as stubborn as possible!

Thank you all again for all the vibes, thoughts, and prayers! They have definitely worked!! It's nice to be back to my usual routine!

Hey every buddy!!! Khady Lynn here! Boy, let me tell you what a craptastic week I have had! But, finally, the big day came and I got to go home on Friday!!!!

Ahhhh, relaxing on my patio! This is totally pawesome!

I had such an exciting homecoming, that I settled down for a little nap. My momma Holly was right there to keep an eye on me!

Later, I even decided to take a nap with dad! He works nights, but stayed up ALL day Friday waiting for the call that he could pick me up.

By Saturday evening, Holly and I were back to our usual napping routine!

I'm so happy to be home with my family, and especially my momma Holly!

I don't think she will be letting me out of her sight for quite a while!

I would also like to pawsonally thank everyone for all the thoughts, prayers, comments and crossed paws during this past week. Mom and dad told me how there were so many pups, kitties, and humans out there who were very worried about me and hoping I would get better soon. I'm not out of the woods and will have to be closely monitored, but I'm certainly feeling like my old self again! And, don't worry, she delivered all those kisses and more!

Monday is another big test day for me. I have to have my BUN and Creatinine numbers checked again to see how I did over the weekend off all my IV fluids. So, if you could keep those paws crossed for a good test for me, I would sure appreciate it!

Thank you all!! It's so heart warming to know there are so many out there who care!! Mom and dad were just overwhelmed with appreciation for all those who stopped by to wish me well!

Happy Friday everyone! And, yes, it is going to be a VERY HAPPY FRIDAY, because my baby Khady comes home!!!

For those of you who don't know us very well, let me just say that I'm pretty picky when it comes to my friends and those I let hang out with me. However, when this little 12 week old puppy came to my house, I adopted her as if I had given birth to her myself! No other dog on this entire planet could get away with the things she does! And, I don't even care, because I love her soooo much!

Dad took these pictures on September 13th. I think this will give you an idea of how much we mean to each other.

I also want to thank EVERYONE from the bottom of my giant Malagal heart for all the continued thoughts and prayers you are sending her way. Our humans are just overwhelmed with all the love that is being sent her way. We are ever so grateful for all the wonderful pups and humans who have taken time to think of her. Words alone cannot express just how much this means to us. God bless you all!

Thursday Khady Update

Khady's mom here again. I am smiling ear to ear! Her BUN is down to 22 (10 - 20 is normal) and her Creatinine is down to 2.3 (.6 - 1.2 is normal), so we are almost there!!

She is being quite a bit more vocal with them, so I definitely know she is feeling much more like herself! My little screaming drama queen! Oh how happy I am to hear she is telling them off!

Based on how close we are to the normal ranges, which they honestly didn't think we would ever see considering how bad they were on Tuesday (93 and over 10), we'll keep her there again for one more night and then we can bring her home tomorrow. We'll keep her for the weekend and see how she does, then take her back on Monday morning so they can do another test to check her numbers and see how they are affected once she is off all the fluids. That will give us an idea of how quickly the numbers might go back up to give us an idea of how much time we might have left with her.

But, right now I am just concentrating on the fact that she is doing SO much better and will get to come home to us tomorrow! I'll try and post some more pictures tonight from our visit yesterday.

Wednesday Evening Khady Update

Hello every one! Khady's mom here again. Look at my beautiful girl!!!

Hubby and I went to see Khady at the doggie hospital. It's so hard to believe she is so sick since she looks so good and was so spunky and happy to see us. The vet said they could tell she was definitely feeling better because she was voicing her opinions a bit more!

We spoke in depth with the vet to get more info on the ultrasound results. The outside cortices is quite a bit denser than what is normal and there is scar like tissue (something to do with the nephrons and amaloids that are being produced) in that portion of her kidneys that should not be there. Also, the center of her kidneys are a bit dilated so basically things just aren't quite right. Luckily she doesn't have cystic kidneys. However, the amaloids that she is producing is what is causing this. I did verify that there is no way this could be caused from Lyme and she said no, it is definitely something hereditary and has been working on her kidneys for a long time. As the BUN and creatinine levels rise, as long as they do it slowly, then their bodies can adjust and acclimate to the increases. It is only once it gets to that really high level that actual failure sets in and they get this sick.

We are keeping her there again over night to check her levels again in the morning to see what changes in numbers we have again. The lower creatinine levels are what is the most important so that is really what they would like to see drop by about half again, so down to 2.2 would be great. Less than 1.2 would be back to normal range. BUN will probably not go back to normal, but lower levels is still important.

So, depending on her numbers, she might get to come home tomorrow. Or, we might want to keep her there for another 24 hours just to continue to see if numbers keep dropping or level off. I'm all for leaving her there if it is in her best interest. Even though I miss her so terrible much, it's all about what she needs!

Once she gets home she will be on the special prescription science diet k/d food and we will also have to give her Maalox as she needs the aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide to help with her kidney function. They are already giving it to her now, so we will need to continue that.

The uncertain thing is how long will it take for her numbers to go back up. That will determine how much time we will get with her. We will be keeping a close watch on how well she is eating. 2 skipped meals in a row will be a trip back to the vet.

We are keeping our prayers going and are more than grateful that there are so many others out there who are doing the same. I am overwhelmed with all the support and comforting words we have received. I couldn't be more thankful to have such a wonderful group of friends and support. Thank you all soooo much!

Hello everyone, Khady's mom here again. I must say that I am totally overwhelmed with all the wonderful pups and humans that have stopped by to tell us that they are thinking of us and sending their prayers for my dear baby Khady. You all have no idea how much I appreciate all your concern.

And, with that, I must say that all those prayers must be working! The vet said that her BUN had dropped down to 72 (from 93) and her Creatinine was down to 5.5 (from over 10). So, we are definitely on the right track here, but certainly not out of the woods yet. We will keep her at the vets for another 24 hours on the fluids and antibiotics to see if it continues to fall.

I miss her so terribly much. This house is just not the same without her. I can definitely tell that Holly is missing her baby too.

So, I just want to say THANK YOU a hundred times over to all of you for all your words of comfort and prayers. Many of you have not even "met" us before but the outpouring of love is definitely being felt and we are so appreciative that you stopped by.

Hubby and I are heading in to visit with her at about 4:30 (central time) so will be sure to give an update later after I talk to the vet some more.

Khady Update

Hey everyone. Khady's mom, Jan, here. Thank you all sooo much for your thoughts, vibes and prayers. However, things are looking bad. Khady's BUN went up from 75 to 93 and her creatinine went up from 7.9 to over 10. This means the fluids and antibiotics are not working and her kidney's are continuing to fail.

The vet is going to do an ultrasound in the morning to see how her kidney's look, and also check her BUN and creatinine levels again. Basically, what this will tell us is how much time we might have left with her. Only way to know for sure what caused this is to do a biopsy, but I will not put her through that when it will not change the outcome. To say I am devastated would be an understatement.

I did get to go visit her today and spent some time with her. She was extremely excited to see me! She has never spent this much time away from home and I'm sure she is very confused about what is going on. I snapped this picture of her laying on my leg while we had our visit.

We had a nice hour and a half visit and then I went home for a while so she could get back on her IV fluids. I did go back about 45 minutes before the office closed and took in her favorite blankie that she always lays on when she is on her spot on the couch and her most favorite toy - her squeaka ball! I put the blankie on the floor and lay down with her and we just snuggled together until closing time. Leaving her there again was so difficult. But, I know that is where she needs to be so she can continue to get her fluids. I am so hoping for a miracle and will continue to pray for her.

And, thank you so much to all of you who are continuing to pray for her too. You have no idea how very much it means to us both!

My baby is in the doggie hospital. She started not eating as of Saturday morning and by Sunday evening was very mopey and wouldn't touch any food mom tried, including tuna! We could tell she was not her normal bouncy, playful self. So, on Monday mom took her in to The Vet to see what was up, thinking it was probably just something upsetting her tummy or GI tract.

After running lots of tests they found that the problem was with her kidneys. Her BUN level (normal range is 10 - 20) was 75. And, her creatinine level (normal range is .6 - 1.2) was 7.9. She also had high protein and both white and red blood cells in her urine. So, we are hoping it is just an infection that is causing all this.

She is spending the night at the doggie hospital getting IV fluids and antibiotics. The vet is hoping that her BUN and creatinine levels come down by half by morning. If not half, hoping that they are at least dropping, meaning the fluids and antibiotics are working. If they are not coming down, well, we just aren't going to think about that.

This is the longest the baby has ever been away from us since she came here a little over 3 years ago. Mom is having a really hard time without her here and I have been a little mopey now myself wondering when she will be home. We all sure hope it's very soon!

So, if you could all keep my baby Khady in your thoughts and send some healing vibes her way I would sure appreciate it. We all need our baby home where she belongs!

The Adventure Begins

Well, now that I have kept you all in suspense for a couple of days, here is the story of my Secret Saturday adventure!

It started out with a really long car ride until we got to this big building. And, when we went inside, I saw this;

Hmmmm, I'm really not liking the look of this.

Holy crap! There are tiny pouffy ones too! Anyway, thank goodness they kept these beasts behind bars!

Next thing I know, I'm sharing the back seat of my car! How did this happen?

And then, well, take a look for yourselves!

Meet Lena! She is a Malamute/Husky mix. Isn't she pretty?!?! She is our first foster dog for Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue.

After our initial meet and greet, we let her check out the back yard.

We're all still getting use to having Lena in our house, so be sure to check back as we continue our new adventure in being a foster family!

Secret Saturday

Apparently I'm going on a secret trip somewhere. Mom isn't telling me anything. She says it's a big secret. I'm not sure I like secrets. I'm more of an "I need to know everything" kind of girl.

I've tried ignoring her and acting like I'm not interested. Except, she got out my harness! Whoa!! It was really hard to act all "I don't care" when that came out! However, mom's still not talking! I guess I will have to update you all once I get back and know more about this super secret adventure. Until then, I guess I will let you all share in my curiosity!

Hello every buddy! Khady Lynn here! I have this ultra favorite toy that I have had since I was a wee puppy. It's my squeaka ball!! I absolutely love this toy! From time to time I lose it. But, it always pops up somewhere! Here's a great example of how much I enjoy this toy!

I think you can tell from my intensity how much my squeaka ball means to me!

Every day, twice a day, mom gives Abby her Tramadol to help with her arthritis. Abby hates these pills because they taste really nasty. Mom has tried hiding them in her food, and wrapping them in some ham, and covering them in peanut butter. All sorts of ways to conceal them. Well, Abby is smart and she doesn't fall for it!

So, mom finally got to the point where she just opens Abby's mouth and puts it down her throat.

Yesterday, Abby accidentally bit mom's finger before mom got it out of the way.

Abby totally crunched moms acrylic nail and now it is really swollen and extremely painful.

It's also turning black from all the blood under her nail. The worst thing is that every time she accidentally hits it on something she screams. Poor mom! Now mom is going to have to figure out a new way to try to get that pill into Abby, since she obviously won't be sticking her fingers down her throat any time soon!

You know what they say about pay-backs! I think Abby won this one!

Very Special Passengers

Well, here you go! Photo's of mom's very special passengers from this weekend!

First up, the whole reason for her trip. Meet the adorable, and very affectionate Quincy!

We're not sure exactly what he is mixed with, other than Sibe, but he was such a good traveler. Mom doesn't have any pics of him in the car cuz he was in a crate. But, he traveled very well and didn't utter a peep!

Here he is, checking out the new neighborhood where he will stay until he gets to his foster home. He was very excited to finally be out of the crate and did a great job checking things out.

He was so happy to be here! Mom said she had a hard time getting some good pics cuz he was so busy looking around and really liked checking things out! He gave lots of hugs and was very excited to get attention and be petted! He is an absolute sweetheart!

We know Quincy will certainly make some lucky family very happy! Look for him to be on the Taysia Blue website soon!

Next, is our surprise guest! We had thought there might be an 8 week old Sibe girl coming along, but that didn't work out. Instead, we were told there would be a young Sibe boy joining mom and Quincy on the trip.

Only, when mom fist met him, she realized, he is not just a Sibe....he's a SiberMAL!! Yep, we're pretty sure there's Malamute in there! Mom thinks he's pretty young, maybe a year or two at the most.

Meet Chance, formerly known as Oreo!

He made himself right at home riding shotgun!

He really loved looking out the windows and checking out all the cars and trucks on the road! Mom said he was a perfect gentleman passenger!

He did quite a good job at making himself comfy for the long trip!

Mom said Chance was also a very good passenger and he was so calm and gentle! He too, like Quincy, is going to make some lucky family very happy!

We sure hope Quincy and Chance will find their furever home soon. Mom was so happy to have made this trip and to have helped save these pawsome pups! She said if she had to do it every weekend, she would! No doubt about it, it was totally worth it!

On the road again....Just can't wait to get on the road again!

Mom is heading out tonight after work to go to Illinois to bring this adorable 6 month old boy back to our wonderful rescue, Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue.

When mom heard he was in Illinois she asked where, exactly, he was located. Well, it turns out, that he is located only 40 miles from where my mom's mom (I guess that makes her my grandma) lives!! It couldn't have been more perfect. Mom immediately volunteered to drive all the way to Illinois to get him. And, she gets to see her own mom, too!

I do believe fate was smiling down on this lucky boy! Hopefully he will have a name by the time she picks him up so she knows what to call him! There was a poll going to vote on his name on our Facebook page. I can't wait to find out the winner!

I don't want to give my mom up for the night, but I do believe this is a good reason to let her go! And, she promises to get lots of pics of him, so I can't wait to see those too!
